BlackHägen Design is pleased to announce the recent graduation of one of our Human Factors Engineers, Ryan Hilgers. Over the past two years, while working full-time for us, Ryan has pursued a master’s degree in human factors and systems engineering through the online sector of his alma mater, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. In May, Ryan walked at graduation in Daytona Beach, Florida, and received his degree with distinction (GPA of 4.0).
Additionally, during the degree program, Ryan was one of the few students to be offered an opportunity to complete a thesis project as part of the curriculum. Ryan’s thesis, titled “Human Factors Contributing to Preventable Adverse Drug Events in Healthcare: A Grounded Theory Approach,” explored the unique application of grounded theory methodology to the urgent subject of medical error in order to identify a theory for why preventable adverse drug events happen within our modern healthcare system.
We wish to take this opportunity to congratulate Ryan on this substantial achievement.
