Elliot is a game changer. A lifesaver.
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a public health crisis. Different than a heart attack, the American Heart Association defines an SCA as the heart unexpectedly malfunctioning and no longer beating. A heart attack is a circulation problem whereas an SCA is an electrical problem.
Meet Elliot: Elliot is the winner of the 2018 AngelMD InnovatED Innovation Challenge (in the Medical Device category) at the 50th American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Conference and Trade Show.
BlackHägen Design was tasked to create and fast-track a next-generation AED. From product definition to completion of the alpha prototype design, the entire project took approximately six-months (compared to at least two to three years in a typical corporate environment). BlackHägen Design provided the industrial and UX design, usability engineering, mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, embedded software engineering, and prototype functional testing.
Elliot is an intelligent, intuitive, virtually indestructible, lightweight, affordable, and reliable AED. Focusing on minimized size, weight, and cost, as well as maximized ease-of-use, and long shelf life, the revolutionary AED includes wireless telemetry and optional supporting devices in the system architecture. The result of this intensive technical development yields the world’s smallest 2000V/150J AED powered by CR123 batteries at a substantially lower cost than similar performing “full-size” devices.
Intelligent. Elliot automatically alerts emergency medical services when paired with a phone. It also detects a heart rhythm and only shocks if needed. Elliot streams the data from the device to an app to create the best possible outcome.
Intuitive. Elliot gives step-by-step instructions to help the user. Options include a language choice and more.
Virtually Indestructible: Cold or hot weather will not bring Elliot down. It is designed to protect critical components.
Lightweight. Elliot fits in a purse. It’s designed by usability experts for portability. Elliot only weighs 1.3 pounds with the battery and pads (included.)
Affordable. Elliot is significantly less than other AED’s yet still offers superior features. Life before profit.
Reliable. Elliot uses easy to find store bought batteries. When the battery gets low, Elliot has device and app alerts.
