About the Presenters
CEO, Director of Design & Development
Philip, with 37 years of design and engineering experience, holds a degree from California’s Art Center College of Design. He started in automotive design, moved into project management, and became Vice President of R&D for a medical device team. Since 2002, he’s been Principal then CEO at BlackHägen Design, overseeing all operations, and is known for his patents, project management skills, and contributions to industry education.

Renée, a seasoned Sr. Manager of Human Factors Engineering, blends expertise in regulatory-focused practices with instructional design for healthcare professionals and patients. With extensive experience across industries like medical devices and pharmaceuticals, she emphasizes safe device interactions. Renée leads in HFE and regulatory compliance, contributing as an industry speaker and society member.
