Development of a unique Corporate Brand Language across a range of Consumer AV Product Lines
The premium legacy brand of Acoustic Research (AR) was initially acquired by Recoton, then subsequently by Audiovox. During those transition years BlackHägen Design supported AR in the development of a unique brand language encompassing form, texture, materials and technology. Particular emphasis was to be paid to creating a design language that would integrate into a home environment, which would distance AR from its primary competitor Bose.
BH was contracted to develop a line of AV receivers, speaker systems, and standalone music systems. Unique application of materials and form language were explored to provide distinctive design separation from legacy products, in some cases mimicking furniture, kitchen appliances and other household furnishings and deploying in unusual locations. While most of BH's design output served as conceptual stimulus to AR's domestic marketing and overseas development teams, a few designs made it to production and relative success.
