AccuPyc Gas Displacement Pycnometry System
The fastest, easiest, most accurate measurement of true density

Best-in-class instrument leapfrogs competition
Design language launches new corporate branding
Initial sales doubled projections
Development Scope
• Create a strategic design language across all product lines
• Apply corporate branding to Accupyc design update
• Integrate touchscreen UI and best-in-class UX workflows
• Update electronic design and improve temperature control
• Re-engineer device for improved performance, optimized reliability and DfX
Design Development and Branding Consistency:
BlackHägen Design created a corporate style-guide for Micromeritics’ new AccuPyc system, ensuring consistent branding elements (shapes, colors, materials, UI, etc.) across their entire product portfolio. The new design integrated modern electronics and improved user interfaces while maintaining a cost-effective strategy for manufacturing.
Project Phases and Deliverables:
The project is structured in two main phases:
• Phase 0: Develop the style-guide through research, CAD modeling, and presentations for client feedback and final approval.
• Phase 1: Conceptualize industrial design solutions, refine design directions, and ensure compliance with safety and usability standards, followed by management review and final design selection.
Key Objectives and Design Considerations:
The design must be robust for industrial lab environments, easy to manufacture with a focus on efficiency, and compliant with environmental safety standards. BH will collaborate with Micromeritics’ engineering team to ensure the design meets technical requirements and reduces costs, while supporting the overall product portfolio strategy.
