Technology changes quickly in today’s digital landscape. At BlackHägen Design, we craft innovative, user-centric solutions that leverage these emerging opportunities.
Let’s explore four groundbreaking technologies poised to revolutionize UX/UI design:
Immersive Interfaces
Immersive interfaces in UX/UI design extend beyond traditional screens, incorporating new control tools that simulate complete immersion. These interfaces enhance user engagement through technologies like voice control, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR), creating immersive experiences that redefine interaction and user experience in applications, including health apps, and interactive media.
Software examples:
- Rendair AI: Rendair AI offers an AI-powered online service that creates highly realistic architectural visualizations. It utilizes input sources such as sketches, 2D elevations, and 3D models to produce instant renderings. Additionally, Rendair AI provides traditional 3D rendering services and animations.
- Vection: Vection Technologies is a rapidly growing enterprise-focused company that leverages 3D data through advanced extended reality (XR) interfaces. Their solutions support various aspects of digital transformation, including design review, real-time rendering, augmented reality visual assistance, immersive product presentations, and omnichannel marketing.
- Sitelink: Sitelink is a mobile 3D collaboration platform for construction project teams powered by Augmented Reality, Reality Capture, and AI. Share information and communicate with 3D visual context between office and field teams to streamline site documentation, perform critical QA/QC, and simplify field issue management.

Voice User Interface (VUI)
A voice user interface (VUI) employs speech recognition technology to enable users to interact with computers, smartphones, or other devices through voice commands. Examples of VUIs include Amazon’s Alexa, Google’s Assistant, and Apple’s Siri. Unlike traditional interaction methods involving a keyboard, a mouse, a monitor, or a touch screen, VUIs use voice as the main method of interaction. This voice-first approach lets users quickly and intuitively initiate automated services and complete daily tasks.
Software examples:
- Amazon Alexa Skills Kit (ASK): Skills for Alexa function like apps, offering a new channel for content and services, allowing customers to perform tasks like checking the news, listening to music, and playing games using their voices. Organizations and individuals can publish these skills in the Alexa Skills Store, reaching millions of devices. The Alexa Skills Kit (ASK) provides APIs, Skill Components, and other tools to help developers build these skills, with a design guide offering best practices, design principles, use cases, and assets. With ASK, you can create various voice experiences, from games to music, using built-in models or custom designs and integrate multimodal features for engaging content across multiple devices.
- Google Assistant Developer Platform: Integrating with Google Assistant lets you stay ahead of changing user behavior by enabling new interactions, from proactive assistance to hands-free engagement across primary and companion devices. Using Google’s AI and NLP (natural language processing) technology, users can interact with Google Assistant for quick access within your app without needing extensive conversation design, thus simplifying complex tasks across multiple devices and helping users in various contexts like multitasking or hands-free scenarios. Integration involves minimal development costs, utilizing familiar frameworks like Android Studio and the Actions console. Google Assistant enhances user experience across the Android ecosystem, including Wear OS apps and Google Home for hands-free smart home control.
- Apple SiriKit: SiriKit allows third-party applications to enhance user experience by integrating with Siri through Intents and IntentsUI components. IntentsUI enables apps to handle incoming messages from Siri, while IntentsUI allows apps to display custom content in Maps or the Siri interface. These features enable interactions starting with “Hey Siri…”, Shortcuts actions, and widget configuration, integrating user activities into contextual suggestions across various platforms. Developers can use standard system intents for everyday actions or create custom intents to highlight unique app features. Intents can be processed within the app or through an Intents app extension, with available guidelines for setup and information sharing. A custom view controller in an IntentsUI app extension can be created for customized content in Siri and Maps.
️AI-Powered Personalization
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is commonplace in today’s digital world, but AI personalization is a real game-changer. AI, powered by machine learning (ML), analyzes user interactions and behaviors, therefore creating better interactions. The goal is for user interactions to mimic those between two humans. AI helps designers create interfaces that adapt to users’ needs and preferences, leading to more personalized and adaptive experiences.
Software examples:
- Adobe Sensei: Adobe Sensei provides a range of AI-powered features within the Adobe suite. The Generate (Beta) feature allows users to create new icons and graphics based on existing artwork that matches the current theme. Enhanced Selection Tools are AI-powered tools that help users quickly and accurately select complex objects or subjects in images, speeding up the design process, especially when universal edits are necessary.
- Figjam AI: Figjam AI is a tool that facilitates brainstorming and diagram creation. It offers the ability to generate diagrams like user flows from simple prompts. Additionally, it includes tools to kickstart the brainstorming process, making it easier to visualize and organize ideas during collaborative sessions.
- Visily AI: Visily AI provides several tools to enhance the design process. It converts low-fidelity sketches into high-fidelity, editable graphics. It also includes theme generators to create consistent design themes. Furthermore, it can convert app or web screenshots into editable wireframes, allowing for quick modifications and updates.

3D Elements
3D software significantly enhances medical device design by enabling detailed visualization, rapid prototyping, and virtual testing, which streamline the development process and reduce costs. It allows for the creation of complex, patient-specific designs and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration by providing clear, shareable models. Additionally, 3D software supports regulatory compliance through detailed documentation and ensures designs are manufacturable by integrating with production processes. Overall, these capabilities lead to more efficient, precise, and innovative medical device development, and helps elevate the user experience.
Software examples:
- SelfCAD: SelfCAD is an online CAD Software as a Service (SaaS) platform that enables users to model, sculpt, and prepare designs for 3D printing. Operating directly within a web browser eliminates the need for downloads, and users can save work in the cloud or access it offline. It features an intuitive interface that facilitates quick mastery, allowing users to become proficient in as little as five hours through self-guided learning.
- Adobe Dimension: Adobe Dimension is a versatile 3D design tool for creating lifelike images in product design, packaging, illustrations, brand visualizations, and beyond. Featuring a user-friendly interface, it empowers users to generate sophisticated 3D content with ease, streamlining the design process significantly.
- Blender: Blender is a robust, open-source 3D computer graphics software toolset known for its versatility in creating a wide range of animated and interactive content across various industries. It supports the development of art, animated films, 3D-printed models, motion graphics, interactive 3D applications, virtual reality experiences, visual effects, advertisements, and TV series.
